Independence Day at the Great Smoky Mountains

by PFRV Blog

With cascading waterfalls, colorful wildlife, and a scenic view spanning over 500,000 acres, the Great Smoky Mountains is the USA's most-visited national park. What better way to spend the most patriotic weekend than an RV road trip to the most iconic national park! Besides the traditional camping, hiking, and theme parks, there will be plenty of 4th of July activities for the whole family.

Celebrate the 4th of July at Pigeon Forge & the Great Smoky Mountains

Answer the red, white & blue calling with fireworks, food, parades, and music. Here are some of the fun events waiting for you during your visit:

Gatlinburg's 4th of July Parade

Also known as the nation's First Independence Day Parade, this parade has started at 12:01 am on July 4 for 45 years! This is where the celebrations begin for the entire country. It has been named by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the "Top Ten Parades to see in the US" for a reason. Discover why this summer!

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early on July 3 to secure a good spot along the parade route, starting at Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway.

Patriot Festival

The celebration finally returns in 2022! The City of Pigeon Forge and 107.7 WIVK have a nice treat for our guests this year. The Independence Day festival is headlined by Country Music superstar Grammy-nominated Josh Turner. He'll be joined by special guests Swamp River Revival. And, for the grand finale, as American as apple pie, our famous fireworks extravaganza!

The 32nd Annual Patriot Festival will take place on the 4th of July at Patriot Park. A free shuttle will be operating between LeConte Center and Patriot Park. It makes rounds every 20 minutes. Parking is free at the Pigeon Forge Patriot Fest.

Here you can check the full schedule:

  • 4:00 pm - Welcome/Veteran Tribute

  • 4:15 pm - Pigeon Forge Community Chorus Patriotic Salute

  • 5:20 pm - Liquid Velvet (Rock Cover Band)

  • 6:45 pm - Swamp River Revival (Creedence Clearwater Revival Cover Band)

  • 8:30 pm - Josh Turner, Country & Gospel Singer

The 32nd Annual Patriot Festival is an all-ages event. There will be family-friendly games and activities throughout the day. Tasty food vendors offering hot dogs, burgers, and more can be found at the festival.

This event is free and open to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but umbrellas and coolers are not permitted.
